10 Snapshots from Prague, Czech Republic

December 21, 2012

If you are looking for a place to get in the jolly and wintery Christmas spirit, Prague is the place to go. Alexander and I visited the Czech Republic a few weekends ago and were absolutely enchanted with the city. Christmas markets, Nativity scenes, brilliant trees and Czech carolers were scattered all over. Bundled up, Alexander and I explored the city everyday getting more and more anxious for Christmas to arrive!

Here are a 10 quick snapshots of our festive and delicious weekend in Prague.

Traditional Czech dessert sold at the Christmas markets…it’s called Trdelnik!

I loved this dessert…It tasted like a sweet pretzel rolled in cinnamon sugar and toffee!

Christmas Markets in the city center!

Gingerbread cookies decorated to perfection.

Peace and Love from the iconic John Lennon wall.

Czech potatoes sold all around the Christmas markets. On the left is potato dumplings with cabbage and ham. On the right is potato chunks with sausage and a spicy cheesy sauce.

The famous Czech beer, Pilsner Urquell. A new favorite.

A Gingerbread Nativity Scene in the city center. I loved how Nativity scenes were scattered throughout the city. It was a great reminder about the true celebration of Christmas…Jesus’ Birth!

Alexander and I in the city center surrounded by the markets and the most dazzling tree I’ve ever seen!

I hope you have a wonderful Christmas celebrating with friends and family, and of course indulging in the most delicious sweets and eats! I am heading home to the USA early tomorrow…I can’t wait to spend a few days getting ready for Christmas and hopefully sneaking in a bit of baking. My time in Sevilla, Spain has been life-changing and I feel so blessed to have had this experience. It’s not a goodbye, it’s a see you soon!

Love food, love self, love life.
