As you’ve seen on my Snapchat stories, Trader Joe’s is my go-to grocery store. I love their product selection, their reasonable prices and most of all, the friendly environment. When I need particular items like rice noodles for stir fry or chipotle peppers for tortilla soup, I will also make a run to the larger grocery store nearby. For the most part, you will see me and my reusable grocery bags at Trader Joe’s once a week.
In an effort to give you a little more insight into my latest finds and consistent staples, I am launching a monthly series featuring five favorite items. If you don’t shop at Trader Joe’s, that’s okay! Maybe this will inspire you to find a new item at your local grocery store. If you are a TJ’s regular, comment below and share your five favorite products.
1 | Gluten Free Loaded Fruit and Nut Granola
I am not even gluten-free, but one day I picked this up because it looked like a cross between cereal and granola. It’s been a pantry staple for the last two months ever since. I originally bought it for morning parfaits with yogurt, fruit and chia seeds, but I love it so much it has turned into a snack!
2 | Sea Salt Fine Crystals
You guys! This giant thing of salt is less than $2.00. You heard me right! I recently switched from regular table salt to this sea salt and I am impressed by how much the flavor of meals change. I had been under-salting many things in fear of consuming too much sodium, but I’ve now realized how much salt is necessary to bring out the natural flavors of the food.
3 | Frozen Roasted Corn
I love having frozen corn on hand for tacos, stir fry, salsa, soups — the list goes on and on. This fire roasted option has that charred flavor to take it up a notch from regular frozen or canned corn.
4 | Oats and Flax Instant Oatmeal
I am the biggest believer in breakfast. You’ve seen me make instant oats before and even overnight oats. Recently a Trader Joe’s worker recommended this oats and flax instant oatmeal and I really like it because it’s ever so slightly sweetened. Add some slivered almonds and raisins for delicious texture.
5 | Lime Sparkling Water
I have been on the La Croix bandwagon for a long time; the grapefruit and lime flavors were on the top of my list. Last week I spontaneously grabbed one of Trader Joe’s sparkling waters in an effort to hydrate more at work and I could have honestly drank the whole bottle in one day. The lime is perfectly subtle and the carbonation is not too bubbly. The best part…the large bottle is only $0.79!
Comment below with anything I should check out next time, or if you have any reactions to trying these items I would love to hear! I hope you enjoyed the first post of my Trader Joe’s Favorites and I look forward to next month.
Love food. Love self. Love life.
