Photo by Brooke Marcella PhotographyNow that I have been visiting the farmer’s market every Saturday, my grocery shopping schedule has changed a little bit. Yesterday when I swung by my local Trader Joe’s, I tried to focus on purchasing meat, fish, tofu, cheese and pantry staples so I could get my fresh produce at the farmer’s market this weekend. I walked out with two of the fullest bags I could carry, but felt like I finally replenished my kitchen after too long. Here are a few of my favorite things from TJ’s this month. Comment on social media so I can hear what you’re loving at Trader Joe’s lately!
Gone Bananas! Chocolate Covered Banana Slices
My aunt turned me on to these and they are so yummy! I normally can’t bite into cold things like a whole chocolate covered banana so I love these little token shaped treats. I can imagine myself eating these as a cool dessert all summer long.
Cold Brew Coffee Concentrate
Summer is the time to switch up my warm cup of coffee each morning with the occasional iced latte. I make my own version at home with this cold brew coffee concentrate! I use a 1:2 ratio of concentrate to milk and water with a dash of vanilla extract, agave or any sweetener and a dash of cinnamon. It’s amazing!
Butternut Squash Zig-Zags
I have to admit, it did feel weird buying squash in June, but I couldn’t resist the cute crinkle cut! I used these in the chicken and vegetable soup I made with the homemade broth from my Instagram Story (another post to come) and they added such a sweetness to the soup. I 100% recommend. They also would be delish in a summer salad!
Charles Shaw Chardonnay
A few weeks ago my girlfriends and I had a Wine Bracket wine tasting tournament party. It was a blast and, even among all the other options, this “Two-Buck Chuck” wine won the bracket tasting as the favorite. At only $2.99, the wine is an absolute steal and perfect to have on hand for summer nights.
Roasted and Salted Truffle Marcona Almonds
Just like I did with the salsa section, I am working my way through the nuts section at Trader Joe’s. These marcona almonds are one of my favorites ever. This kind of almonds are a special product of Spain and remind me more of a macadamia nut texture. Salted and flavored with truffle, they are luxurious and would be a perfect addition to your next cheese plate.
What are your favorite items this month?
Love food. Love self. Love life.
