New Year, New You, New Food

December 31, 2010

This morning I went to breakfast with my dad–one of my favorite things to do because we are able to catch up and spend special time together doing something we both love: eating! We dined at the “indulgently healthy cafe” called Pomegranate in Ahwatukee (on 40th St. and Chandler Blvd.) and had delicious French Toast topped with pomegranate-berry jam. I felt so great eating it because it was super healthy, but also tasted scrumptious!

Pomegranate’s website says, “At Pomegranate emphasis is on a new way of eating – utilizing fresh organic ingredients to prepare food and drinks that tempt the palate and create wellbeing.”

I am very inspired by this and decided that my New Year’s Resolution is composed of the following:

  1. Share more special meals with family members on a regular basis. During these meals I will not rush eating or wish that the food would come faster. I will savor every bite and not answer any text messages.
  2. Fuel my body with nutritious and flavorful food. By eating healthy in moderation, I will feel better about myself and know that I am caring for my body to sustain its longevity. Remember that eating healthy does not need to be boring. Rather, it should be flavorful, fresh, and mouth-watering. (Don’t get me wrong, it’s necessary to indulge every once in a while, though!)
  3. Seek out more restaurants, like Pomegranate, that use organic, locally grown ingredients and will support their commitment to caring for our Earth.

Thank you for all your support over the past four months of 2010 by reading Gourmet Gab. It brings me great joy knowing I get to share my deep love of food with the world. Let’s make 2011 full of amazing eating experiences, whether at home or at a restaurant, accompanied by fabulous people and treasured by memories!

Happy New Year!

Love food. Love self. Love life.
