The Best of 2016

December 27, 2016

This week feels like a week of reflection to me. I’m reflecting on what a great year 2016 has been and how excited I am to bring in 2017. I have always preferred odd numbers and even as strange as it sounds, I am so excited for the odd year 2017 to be here! This year I believe is going to be filled with new changes and adventures, accomplishing long-awaited goals and discovering new ones. Thank you all for being a part of this year and all of my Gourmet Gab adventures.

I pulled the statistics and here are the five most popular blog posts from 2016! It’s so fun to see what people reacted to and what you all enjoyed reading the most.

Cast Iron Skillet Brussels Sprouts

This recipe was one of those spontaneous weeknight dinners that I pulled together with some inspiration from a few blogs. I had been dying to use my new cast iron skillet and extra crispy Brussels sprouts sounded like the perfect dinner. If you haven’t checked out this insanely simple and delicious recipe, make a batch of these Brussels with shrimp and mushrooms and serve over rice or quinoa!

Leap Year and Lasagna

This post was one that I really opened up on while sharing the story of my amazing mother. I shared her famous lasagna recipe and I received an incredible reaction. If you’ve made my mom’s lasagna, please let me know! I would love to hear what you thought.

The Pro’s and Con’s of Meal Prep

This year I started making Sunday meal prep my weekly tradition. I’ve been posting Snapchat videos in the kitchen while I prep and it has been so fun to engage with you all about the recipes, questions and more.

Lake Life 2016

Every summer I spend time in Minnesota with my family and I absolutely love sharing our memories! My little cousins really got into the Snapchat videos this year and we had such a great time cooking, make up recipes and cooking on my uncle’s Green Egg grill.

Flight Night at Brew Ales & Eats

One of my favorite memories of the year was serving as the guest chef at my cousin’s restaurant in Minnesota called Brew Ales and Eats. At Flight Night we paired four small bites with four of their beers – read about the combos in the post!

Food Network Snapchat Discover

Another huge part of the year was creating videos for Food Network Snapchat Discover. It was so incredible to be a part of this new outlet of food content. I am pretty thrilled that two more recipes are coming up this Thursday and on January 9th! In case you missed it, here are the recipes I created for Food Network. To get the recipes, click here though the Archives and stay tuned for more coming your way!

Wishing you a marvelous last week of 2016 and an even better 2017! It’s going to be delicious and full of amazing memories – in and out of the kitchen.

Love food. Love self. Love life.
