A Guide to the 2013 Gift Guides

December 11, 2013

This time of the year can be overwhelming with gift guides galore on every food website. Instead of making my own, I decided to pull five different gift guides I enjoyed from around the web. Happy shopping!

For the Budding Chef

If you are shopping for someone who is breaking into the kitchen scene, peruse this Kitchen Starter Kit gift guide from Serious Eats. These nine pieces of equipment will be the gifts that keep giving in the kitchen.

The Do-It-Yourself Kind

I love the idea of homemade, edible gifts for the holidays. A delicious gift “made with love” combats the materialism of the season and is often more cost-efficient. CHOW has 45 ideas for you including everything from Hot Sauce to Chocolate Covered Marshmallows.

Le Sophistiqué

I love the diversity of the New York Times Dining gift guide for your most sophisticated culinary friends. The King Cube Tray, Mike’s Hot Honey and The Bakus Trivet are my three favorites. But actually, can I just have them all?

What’s for Dinner?

A Beautiful Mess is one of my favorite lifestyle blogs. This list of 10 cookbooks includes a few classics, a few natural/organic styles, and a few “food literature” kinds. Over winter break I want to read Jenna Weber’s book, White Jacket Required: A Culinary Coming-of-Age Story.

Thrifting for the Win

Gifting on a budget? I got to help FoodNetwork.com put together their Holiday Gift Guides while I was an Online Editorial Intern over the summer, and this was one of my favorites because all the gifts are under $20!

Love food. Love self. Love life.
