Grocery shopping can either be one of the most daunting or exciting parts of the week. The task can be overwhelming because there are so many rows of items…how do you choose what to buy? I fall into the group of people who could roam the isles of the grocery store for hours. Exploring the ingredients, talking to employees about their favorite items and getting inspiration for upcoming recipes is something I look forward to every weekend. I even wrote a blog post about how to have fun grocery shopping!
One of the reasons I have fun grocery shopping is because shopping goes much faster when I use a grocery list. Before I leave for the grocery store, I pick out the dishes I want to make, type out all the ingredients I need to purchase in my WunderList app, evaluate if I need to restock any general things and review what else I’d like to have on hand for snacking. Over the last year, I’ve developed a routine of the ingredients I buy fresh every Sunday and the ingredients I just keep on hand in my pantry. You’ll see I always have fresh fruit, lots of veggies and a few meats/seafood/proteins on the list to buy weekly. Other things that can hang out in the pantry for a while or stay good in the fridge or freezer get purchased as needed.
To help you out with your weekly shopping, you can download this image I made of my typical grocery list. Save it to your phone, print it our or make your own list using this for inspiration! Your weekly or re-stock-as-need items may vary completely depending on your diet, preferences, etc. but I hope this provides a good starting point for you if you want to start using a list. Using a list makes a world of difference in my experience at the grocery store, so I think it will help you in a positive way too.
I would love to hear…What items are on your shopping list? Do you have a specific strategy when you go shopping. Hopefully with a full stomach and prepared list, you’ll be able to have a little more fun in the grocery store!
Love food. Love self. Love life.
