Food, Fireworks and Family

July 3, 2011

Happy 4th of July!

Time to dress up in red, white and blue attire, light fireworks, eat lots of patriotic all-American food, and spend time with family! Growing up I always looked forward to the 4th of July because I would spend it with my family at our lake cabin in Minnesota. On the Fourth we would all watch the parade, or some years, even be a part of it. One year my cousin and I got to be baton twirlers!

Here are my cousins and I with our moms, who are sisters, when we were younger. Like I said, we all love to dress up in festive clothes! I am the second from the left holding the flag :)

This year I am not in Minnesota with the extended family for the 4th of July, but I am so excited to continue all of our family’s fun traditions in Arizona. I will be sporting my red, white and blue clothes, will catch a firework show, and will be singing patriotic songs.

On my list of things to make are Red Velvet Cupcakes with Patriotic Cupcake Wrappers and All-American Cake Pops, similar to the ones from MyJuiceCup.com below. I’ll blog about the finished product next week!

What are your family’s typical festivities and foods for the 4th? Or did you start a new tradition this year? Comment below and I would love to hear.

Have a wonderful and safe Fourth of July! Enjoy time with your loved ones and eat lots of delicious red, white and blue treats.

Love food. Love self. Love life.
