You could have a plate of roasted veggies, perfectly fried eggs or homemade meatballs, but if you’re not topping it with an incredible sauce you are missing out! Over the last year, I have become completely obsessed with making my own sauces or finding store-bought ones to compliment every meal. Whether it’s a chimichurri, salsa, creamy almond dressing, marinara or honey dill sauce, they transform any simple dish to the next level!
Chimichurri Herb Sauce
Roasted carrots, like these incredible rainbow ones, get a dose of color and brightness from this herb sauce. Parsley and cilantro make this chimichurri an absolute winner. It’s traditionally served on grilled meat – so add some to your skirt steak or grilled chicken, too! Get the recipe here.
Creamy Almond Sauce
This savory and nutty dressing is so versatile – perfect for a salad, noodle bowl, over chicken or salmon, or as a veggie dip! Make it Whole30-compliant, too, as long as you swap the soy sauce for coconut aminos and leave out the agave/honey. Get the recipe here.
Guacamole
Guacamole is one of the best things every invented, in my opinion. If you haven’t tried the pre-made Chunky Spicy Guacamole Auténtico from Trader Joe’s, you should! It’s only $2.99 and lasts for a whole week. Add it on top of eggs, in your salads, veggie bowls or even just use it as a snack.
Marinara Sauce
It always seems like I make pasta and have a *little* bit of marinara sauce leftover that I don’t know how to use. I started putting a little bit on top of a fried egg, on meatballs or on roasted veggies. The tangy sweetness from the tomato really goes with almost anything! Give it a try next time you have leftovers.
Homemade Ranch
You guys, making ranch at home is so underrated! It’s really just mayo with herbs, seasoning and lemon juice. It couldn’t be easier! If you’re doing Whole30 right now, this is a miracle worker to make any meal go from boring to over-the-top good. This recipe is in my FREE meal prep download that I’ll send your way when you subscribe to the blog!
Honey Dill Dressing
This dressing comes together with a creamy Greek yogurt base, fresh dill and honey. I honestly could drink this! I love the sweetness of the honey in the dressing with the fresh herbs. Serve it over roasted carrots, broccoli and shrimp for a weeknight dinner! Get the recipe here. (Not Whole30, but save it for February!)
